First Look At New Justice League By Geoff Johns and Jim Lee

From a story first broke by DC Women Kick Ass.
This week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly has a article on the new DC Universe and a page out of the new Justice League comic featuring Green Lantern/Hal Jordan and Batman/Bruce Wayne. It is suppose to be there first meeting five years earlier, which may explain why Hal is on the cover and not a certain someone else (spoiler if you haven't read this weeks GL issue). The thing is both are in there new costumes which makes me wonder if they are suggesting they have always worn them, that is they maybe reworking there history/origins...hmm. This should be interesting.
Mike.

SPOILER SPORT: The AFTERMATH Of WAR OF THE GREEN LANTERNS

From Newsarama.com By Vaneta Rogers
Now that the "War of the Green Lanterns" has ended, writer Tony Bedard can talk a little more freely about what happens in his upcoming two-issue mini-series, War of the Green Lanterns Aftermath.
But beware: There are spoilers below!
The conclusion of "War of the Green Lanterns" in this week's Green Lantern #67 showed a Corps that has some rebuilding to do, particularly now that Mogo has been killed by John Stewart. And in a strange twist of events, Hal Jordan is no longer a Green Lantern, but Sinestro is.
Bedard's two-parter will deal with the ramifications of these changes as the Green Lantern universe heads toward DC's line-wide relaunch in September. Beginning that month, Bedard will launch a new Kyle Rayner-led series called Green Lantern: New Guardians with Tyler Kirkham, while Peter Tomasi and Fernando Pasarin will relaunch Green Lantern Corps with starring roles for Guy Gardner and John Stewart.
Simultaneously, a green-wearing Sinestro and a de-powered Hal Jordan will be the focus of the relaunched Green Lantern by Geoff Johns and Doug Mahnke. And a brand-new Red Lanterns comic will be kicked off by Peter Milligan and Ed Benes.
As the Corps picks up the pieces after the war, we talked to Bedard about his two issues and what comes next for the ravaged Green Lanterns.
Newsarama: Tony, what does the Aftermath series concentrate on, now that the "War" storyline has ended?
Tony Bedard: As anyone who read that last chapter of "War of the Green Lanterns" can tell you, this storyline has fundamentally shaken up the Corps and delivered some major shocks to the status quo. Mogo is gone, Sinestro has a green ring, and Hal Jordan has been summarily booted off planet Oa and off the Corps! We have major repercussions to deal with in the two-part Aftermath special.
Nrama: How does the change in Hal's status affect the other Earth members of the Corps? Or the Corps itself?
Bedard: Hal is widely regarded as the greatest Green Lantern ever, and every single Green Lantern has to wonder: "if the Guardians dumped him, what might they do to me?" Even the ones who weren't Hal's biggest fans are shaken by this development. In a way, Hal's absence has a more shocking impact than his presence would have.
Nrama: Will the Aftermath series explore the ramifications of Sinestro's new status? How does the Corps react to that?
Bedard: Sinestro's new status is the biggest question mark of all right now. To a man, the Green Lanterns want him dead. Each of them knows someone who fell in the Sinestro Corps War. Each of them knows the man is a tyrant and he cannot be trusted.
But a green ring chose Sinestro, and that's a mystery that must be unraveled. So as the Guardians struggle to understand what this means, the shell-shocked Lanterns worry that he might worm his way back into their good graces, and some of them will do anything to keep that from happening.
And, of course, there's the whole question of what Sinestro thinks about this. As horrified as the other Lanterns are, he may be even more shocked by that green ring on his hand.
Nrama: Will you be exploring Sinestro's response? Or are these two issues more about the Corps?
Bedard: We do get into Sinestro's response, and the profound questions that arise with a green ring on his hand, but "Aftermath" is also about the other rifts and strained relationships in the Corps.
Nobody's very thrilled with John Stewart for taking the shot that killed Lantern Mogo. There's also a whole load of new Lanterns recruited by Mogo with no regard for their fitness to serve. Kyle Rayner and Soranik Natu have major issue to resolve if they want to save their relationship. Oa is half-ruined (again!) and everyone, Lantern and Guardian alike, is suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder after having been either possessed by ring entities or mind-controlled by Krona.
The Corps is in very rough shape right now and there's no telling if they can keep it together.
Nrama: Will we see more of the pieces put into place that were touched upon in the "War" story? Is there any element in particular you're exploring in more detail?
Bedard: Everyone's reaction to Sinestro is probably topic number one. Especially for Sinestro's daughter, Soranik Natu. Every minute that Sinestro is on Oa is torment for her, and she may have to finally do something about it.
There are also the Lanterns who feel like Mogo should be avenged. The poor planet-Lantern is now in pieces, orbiting Oa like a macabre asteroid belt, an ever-present reminder of what they've lost in the war.
And Ganthet is struggling with the loss of his right hand, along with his fellow Guardians' ever more erratic behavior.
Nrama: Mogo's death had larger ramifications though, didn't it? What did his death represent, and how will you be portraying the challenge of replacing his role?
Bedard: Mogo was the moral compass that helped guide power rings to their new wearers. He may be irreplaceable, and with him gone, the whole candidate selection process is in question. Exhibit A: Sinestro. Mogo's death will have further-reaching implications than you might think, and it is a major subject in "Aftermath."
Nrama: We now know who stars in Green Lantern #1 in September, but your new series,Green Lantern: New Guardians, is still a bit of a mystery. Will "Aftermath" set up Kyle's New Guardians team?
Bedard: When Green Lantern: New Guardians launches in September, everything you need to know will be there from issue #1, but the underlying question of whether the Guardians are fit to command the Corps is one that runs through "Aftermath" and will be a major component in New Guardians.
Nrama: Fans have more information now about the members of Kyle's New Guardiansteam, who are shown in full color on issue #2's cover. Is there anything else you can tell fans about the other members who work with Kyle Rayner?
Bedard: I think you can guess a lot from the covers that have been released, but I can say this is not the same lineup that Hal fought alongside. I actually want to remain mum beyond that — it's more fun to wait and see exactly why Kyle pulls together the team he ends up with.
Nrama: How will these "Aftermath" issues set up the Red Lantern series? Or any of the other new elements in September?
Bedard: There are certain moments in "Aftermath" that feed into Red LanternsGreen Lantern, and Green Lantern Corps, but this is more about wrapping up "War of the Green Lanterns" and dealing with the emotional damage of that conflict.
Nrama: Then to wrap up, Tony, is there anything else you want to tell fans about "Aftermath" or what comes after?
Bedard: I think Geoff put such a great twist into the last chapter of "War of the Green Lanterns" that anyone who read it will want to pick up Aftermath. There are too many huge plot threads to follow, and you won't be disappointed when you see just how the many members of the Green Lantern Corps react to the worst conflict they've ever faced.

10 Biggest GREEN LANTERN SURPRISES Of All Time

From Newsarama.com by Vaneta Rogers
This week's issue of Green Lantern offered a pretty big surprise for fans of the franchise.
After years of villainy and dirty deeds against the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro has been given a green power ring and will now replace Hal Jordan as a member of the Corps.
The change comes at the end of the "War of the Green Lanterns" storyline but is even more of a surprise because it will kick off the new Green Lantern #1 in September.
As DC works to launch the new title and attract new readers, the 'DCnU' will feature one less icon in the form of a de-commissioned Hal Jordan, with Sinestro serving in the title role.
But this isn't the first time the Green Lantern franchise has surprised fans. In fact, there have been so many surprises over the year, we struggled a bit to pare our list down to 10. It was tough to let go of some we had to cut.
But without further ado, click Here for Newsarama's countdown of the 10 Biggest Surprises in Green Lantern History.

Heroes Alliance: Green Lantern Charity Fundraisers

Heroes Alliance Texas has had a busy few months, with their "Lonestar Lantern" team attending a variety of events themed around the Green Lantern movie premiere!

During all of the Lantern festivities, Heroes Alliance Texas collected donations for CASA, their charity of choice, whom they supported during last September's 5k run.

For the first event, Brad and his team worked with their local partner, Tribe Comics, for Free Comic Book Day. The Lonestar Lanterns made their debut, posing near the gorgeous new Oa display that they designed.

The team also attended Houston's Comicpalooza and San Antonio Comic Con, meeting up with Heroes Alliance friend and Superman costumer, Alex Rae. He and Charlee Chartrand were a great help to the team as both Green Lanterns and Superman, really promoting the fundraising efforts.

Finally, it was back to Tribe Comics for the Green Lantern premiere party! The team came up with a three-part, green-themed, fundraising strategy:

1. A silent auction, featuring arts and crafts from local creators

2. A raffle drawing of merchandise donated by various retailers including Green Lantern DVDs, action figures and graphic novels

3. And a generous donation by Tribe of ten percent of the days profits

Of course, power rings need to recharge every 24 hours, but the attendees and volunteers require an energy boost a bit more frequently. So, Brad decided to whip up some cake!

The events were a great success, not only for HA Texas' Lonestar Lanterns, but for their supported charity, CASA. The fundraising efforts raised over $500! Great work, team!

TYLER KIRKHAM ON GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS

From DC Comics.com By Pamela Mullin
(The cover for GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS #1 by Tyler Kirkham and BATT)
Starting this September, artist Tyler Kirkham (GREEN LANTERN CORPS) will be illustrating (along with BATT) the new series, GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS. Led by Kyle Rayner, the New Guardians are a powerful team comprised of the full spectrum of the corps. We caught up with Tyler during his early process of illustrating the new series.
THE SOURCE: What about DC’s new 52 titles excites you the most?
TYLER KIRKHAM: There are still DC books I’m not familiar with so this will help me to start from scratch, and pick up books I’ve wanted to read for a while. I also plan on getting an iPad or tablet soon and want to start reading some of my books digitally. So with the books starting from # 1, I can have a whole series from the beginning. I’m extremely excited about it.
How and why are you shaking up the series’ status quo?
Well my series is one of the new ones. GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS. I’m glad Kyle will still be staring in my new book. I really love drawing him. This book will focus on all the ring color corps, so well will get to see a lot more of the Lantern universe than the other Lantern titles.
What new characters will debut in the series?
All I can say for now is Kyle Rayner. But there will be members from all the other color corps.
Will we see new character designs?
Most likely. As of now, we’re still in the development stage.
What’s the biggest surprise you’ve had working on this character/book?
As I’m just getting started, the whole series is a surprise to me. I think the whole story will surprise people, as we discover secrets from all the other corps.
What secret has been the hardest to keep?
Just the fact that I wasn’t staying on the GREEN LANTERN CORPS series. I wanted to tell some of my friends and fans but held off until it was announced.
What’s the unofficial tagline for this series, in your own words?
“What will happen when you put a member from all the Lantern corps in the same room?”
