Who Would Be The Right Green Lantern For The DC Movie Universe
There a lot of discussion who should be the Green Lantern in Batman Vs Superman and Justice League, Hal or John. There can be arguments for both as well as who should play them. But this is more about which character, Hal being the first and main GL seems to be the obvious choice he would give balance to the team. John is familiar from previous incarnations of the Justice League in cartoons and with the "bad taste" left with many from the GL movie it could give GL a fresh start so to speak. Many Green Lantern diehards seem to be preferring Hal myself included, editorials on both the Blog Of Oa and ComicBook.com also favor Hal, and they both make very valid points to why. It's nothing against John, and while they may make it all work out, there is a history and there is room for all but one has to be first and it should be Hal.

Is Rock Hinting That He’ll Play Green Lantern?
More speculation of the Rock as GL John Stewart.
From Yahoo
After plenty of speculation it looks as though Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson may have already teased his appearance as the Green Lantern.
The 41-year-old wrestler-turned-actor has been rumored for a part in the upcoming 'Batman vs. Superman' for some time - most speculating that he could be up for the role of the Green Lantern (aka John Stewart). And while that's quickly become a fan-favorite, it seems the man himself may have already teased an appearance as DC's Green Lantern some months ago.
In a rather innocent Instagram image, The Rock is pictured alongside friend and producer Hiram Garcia… but the picture isn't quite as important as the hashtags that go along with it.
"#TeamRock #JohnStewartCanStillWhupSupermansAss"
Now, this is far from a confirmation that The Rock will be playing the Green Lantern… but it certainly hints towards it. And that tallies with a lot of the rumours we've been seeing over the last few months.
It all began with a tweet from The Rock, explaining that he'd been in for a talk with Warner Bros… and speculation quickly turned to the Green Lantern.

Denzel Washington Up for Green Lantern In Batman Vs. Superman?
The latest rumors going around have nearly 60 year old Denzel Washington up for the role of Green Lantern John Stewart in Batman Vs. Superman. The website Nuke The Fridge posted that Washington was rumored to be playing Lex Luthor but instead was being considered for Green Lantern. Personal I feel he would be better for Green Lantern than Luthor but I definitly would want a younger actor in the role, Idris Elba who said he would be interested would be a better fit for the role and is twenty years younger which would work out better for future films. Elba is also closer in age to Ben Affleck (both around 40) who is playing Batman, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot are both around 30 making them half of Washington's age. While age doesn't have to be the only factor the fact DC and Warner Bros. hope to compete with Marvel with a superhero franchise they need to get actors for these roles long term and do it right, not just big name actors.

Idris Elba On Green Lantern Role: “I Like This Idea”
From ComicBook.com
Idris Elba, who has made no secret of his desire to play James Bond and who most recently appeared onscreen as Heimdall in Thor: The Dark World, likes the idea of taking on the role of John Stewart, one of DC Comics’s best-known Green Lanterns.
The Pacific Rim star said as much on Twitter today, after a fan prompted him with a fake movie poster for Green Lantern, featuring Elba and the tagline “Rebirth,” ironically a reference to the best-selling Green Lantern: Rebirth story that restored Hal Jordan to the series lead after a decade or so of Kyle Rayner and John Stewart being DC’s picks for Green Lantern.
Elba has been a fan-favorite for the role of John Stewart for some time now, and there has always been an idea that, since he’s one of the highest-profile DC characters of color, Stewart would be the go-to Green Lantern should the company elect to introduce a new GL in a Justice League film instead of his own solo movie. At one point, hip-hop artist Common was attached to star in the shelved Justice League: Mortal movie from Mad Max director George Miller.
You can check the tweet out below, via CBM.

Geoff Johns Talks Future Projects, Comic Book Day, Green Lantern, Arrow, Man Of Steel, Booster Gold, The New 52, Animated Movies, And More
From Collider.com
Johns is asked if there are plans for another Green Lantern movie after Justice League, with his response as follows:
Johns: There are plans. There are plans.
The Collider then goes on to state with Ryan Reynolds' involved, though Johns didn't confirm that directly or deny it.
Collider: In other words, we might see Ryan [Reynolds] in Justice League.
Green Lantern In Arrow Possible Shared Universe
From Coming SoonThere have been countless cameos on The CW's hit series Arrow from all corners of the DCU, but how much longer until we see an A-Lister appear? It could be sooner than you think.
Speaking with TV Guide, executive producer Marc Guggenheim says that the stage is being set for a potential cameo from Green Lantern.
"If all goes according to plan, when you see the Ferris Air logo later in the season, it will be the same logo that we established in the movie. I like tips of the hat."
That's not to say that Arrow and the Green Lantern film take place in the same "universe," though he doesn't rule out Ryan Reynolds or Blake Lively making guest appearances as their respective characters from the movie.
"I would never say never," he said. "It's certainly something that we've talked about.
"As with all DC characters, we have to figure out a way for those characters to fit within our Arrow universe," he continues. "But when you consider the importance that Hal Jordan plays in the Green Arrow comics, it's certainly one of those names that we've discussed a great deal. I have Ryan Reynolds' phone number around here somewhere."
Guggenheim sounds more open to the idea of cameos now than he did when the show began, as the creators had a strict "No super powers" policy that they always cited in the beginning. Given Hal Jordan's history with Oliver Queen in the source material, a team-up is likely on the horizon. Do you want to see Green Lantern and Green Arrow together on the show?

Green Lantern 2 Part Of WB's Plans?
From CosmicBookNews.com
With the release of the Man of Steel coming soon, and recent the head of WB movies, Jeff Robinov, stating that news about their DC characters would be announced soon, it looks as if information is starting to trickle out of Warner Bros.
Our DC Entertainment source contacted us about updates following the Justice League Movie.
The source notes this is the plan at the moment, but we'll have to see what develops.
• If the Justice League movie becomes a worldwide hit, then expect production on The Flash, Green Lantern 2, Wonder Woman and The Batman to speed up 100 fold.
• Darren Aronofsky is still touted within WB's halls for the Batman reboot.
• Joseph Kosinski is apparently the no. 1 choice for a second Green Lantern film with his work on Tron: Legacy the key factor and his expertise with CGI.
• The plan is still for 2016 to host Justice League.
• 2017 is a "World's Finest" year of Man of Steel 2 and The Batman.
• Expect movies every year after Justice League.
The future will tell how much truth there is in this but GL fan's can hope.

MARK STRONG Was Excited To Play SINESTRO Again
From Metro.co.uk
Were you disappointed Green Lantern didn’t get a sequel?
It set you up as the villain in future instalments… I was really looking forward to Sinestro harnessing the power of fear and putting on the yellow suit, I was well up for it – but these things are dictated by economics and they felt it didn’t make enough money. I’ve become realistic. You come out of drama school and do theatre and are interested in creative endeavour, then you drift into TV and movies and realise that artistic endeavour needs to balance with financial success. There’s no point spending millions on a movie that doesn’t make any money because the people producing it won’t make another one.

JMS OFFERS THOUGHTS ON HOW TO DO GREEN LANTERN MOVIE
JMS - comic book, film and TV writer extraordinaire - is responsible for a number of successful science-fiction and super hero adaptations.
JMS is currently writing the script for the Valiant Comics film adaptation of the Shadowman comic book and offered his thoughts on not only the difference between the two genres, but on the disappointing Green Lantern movie.
Regarding the Shadowman movie, JMS noted there has to be a difference between the comics and movies.
We had talked about the difference between the 'Shadowman' movie and the 'Shadowman' comic, and the good thing is that the folks involved understand that there's a difference between a movie and a comic book. There were times when they said, 'We're doing this in the book, does it work for you in the movie?' Some things did work and we're going to carry them over, and some things did not and I said, 'We have to leave that out.So what about the Green Lantern movie? As many fans have noted, the movie seemed to have a hard time deciding where it should take place. Earth or Space? Seems JMS felt Earth would have been best.
In the Green Lantern movie, you want to make this character special, one of a kind, the bravest guy on the planet, and then put him on a planet with 10,000 just like him. The fan part said, 'We should have the whole Green Lantern Corps there.' Someone should have said, no, the movie side say, 'Keep him on his own. Don't bring them in yet. Let's make him special on his own first, then, two movie down the road, we'll bring in the whole Corps.(From CosmicBookNews Via Blastr)

Mark Strong On Sinestro And What Went Wrong With 'Green Lantern'
From MTV
With "Man of Steel" soaring into theaters this year and a "Justice League" movie in the works, it seems like the DC Cinematic Universe is finally ready to compete with Marvel Studios. But it's equally likely that DC's previously-established properties won't be connected to the "Justice League" film in any way; speaking, of course, about Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy and the box office flop that was "Green Lantern."
"I really like 'Green Lantern,'" says Mark Strong (who played Sinestro) in a recent interview with MTV Splash Page. "I don’t have a problem with it at all. But it just didn’t seem to do anything at the box office or it didn’t do what they were hoping it would do at the box office. I think that more than anything, economics, dictates whether or not they make another one."
"I think it’s a real shame," Strong continues. "I loved making 'Green Lantern' and I loved playing Sinestro and I was really excited about the direction that he was going to take in the second one."
For those of you who don't remember or have never seen the film, during the end credits of "Green Lantern," Sinestro happens upon a yellow power ring which quite obviously sets up the beginnings of a Sinestro Corps story-arc for the sequel.
"A lot of people seemed to be confused by him putting on the ring at the end of the movie," ponders Strong on the reasons for "Green Lantern's" failure to perform at the box office. "They felt that it came out of nowhere. All it was, during the credits, there was a sequence which was a nod to where the trilogy was intending to head to. It wasn’t ever meant to be part of the story of the first film."
In the comic books, Sinestro (who was once one of the greatest members of the Green Lantern Corps and Hal Jordan's mentor) eventually dons a yellow power ring forged by the Weaponers of Qward after being banished to an antimatter universe by the Green Lantern Guardians. Sinestro is now the most prominent enemy of the entire Green Lantern Corps and has since created his very own Sinestro Corps comprised of the most feared beings in the entire universe.
"I would be surprised if they made a second one because I’ve heard nothing about it in quite a while now," Strong explains. "What that standalone moment was intended to relate to was where the movies were headed and that, for me, would have been very exciting because the putting on of the ring and the whole suit turning yellow would have been great fun."

GREEN LANTERN 2 FIRST DRAFT SCRIPT DETAILS; NEW KILOWOG; MORE COSMIC, AMON SUR
From CosmicBookNews.com
The story is by Greg Berlanti, Marc Gruggenheim and Michael Green with the screenplay by Michael Goldenburg, with details from the first draft as follows:
Update: The script was written in late 2011 by Goldenburg. The story treatment by Greg Berlanti, Marc Gruggenheim and Michael Green was written before Green Lantern's release.
• Most of the film is set in space.
• At the start of the film, Hal Jordan and Sinestro are paired to stop an intergalactic serial killer, Arkillo, who Sinestro later frees to join his Corps and restore order to the universe.
• Sinestro's decision to leave the Corps is mainly due to his distrust of the Guardians and the fact he feels that the universe laughs at the Green Lanterns. Sinestro feels that a new Corps should replace them.
• Sinestro visits Warworld to recruit members to his new Corps.
• Sinestro frees Amon Sur and recruits him to his new Corps.
• There is a reference to Amon Sur's previous attempt to destroy the Corps, which happened in Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters.
• Carol Ferris is kidnapped by Sinestro to draw Hal Jordan to him.
• Jordan requests that the Guardians deploy the entire Corps to Korugar to rescue Carol and defeat Sinestro's Corps, but they deny his request. He subsequently makes a plea to the Corps via transmission of his ring. Several hundred respond and encounter Sinestro's fledging Corps in a battle above Korugar.
• Hal, Kilowog and Tomar-Re use the large battle taking place above Korugar as a distraction to sneak to the surface of the planet to rescue Carol. There, they are confronted by Sinestro, Arkillo and Amon Sur. Hal and Sinestro evenly match each other, while Kilowog defeats Arkillo, and Tomar-Re defeats Amon Sur before they rescue Carol.
• The battle between the two Corps ends with the Sinestro Corps retreating due to the majority having little experience with the ring.
• There is a foreshadowing to the third film with a discussion by the Guardians mentioning that a "War of Light" is coming.
• Ryan Reynolds, Mark Strong, Blake Lively, Geoffrey Rush are all contracted to return for the sequel.
• Kevin Michael Richardson is expected to replace Michael Clarke Duncan as the voice of Kilowog. Update: Richardson previously voiced Kilowog in Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters video game and is the best guess to replace Michael Clarke Duncan, "sounds very likely."

Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds Are Married
A source confirms to PEOPLE that the couple tied the knot Sunday night at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., just outside of Charleston.
The reception took place in a white tent at the plantation on Sunday evening. Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine), a good friend of the Gossip Girl star, performed three songs live, and there was also a deejay who spun tunes. PEOPLE also confirmed that a cake was being driven down from Virginia for the event.
Lively's mother and sister were also spotted in town, and a source told PEOPLE that the two had dinner in Charleston with Bette Midler earlier in the weekend.
Reps for the two actors had no comment.
Lively and Reynolds have been in nesting mode since buying a home in Bedford, N.Y., earlier this year. They have subsequently been seen working out together at a local gym, as well as spending quality time with their families in New York and Vancouver, where Reynolds, PEOPLE's 2010 Sexiest Man Alive, was born.
The two, who costarred together in 2011's Green Lantern, have stayed relatively mum about their relationship, though Lively, 25, did tell Marie Claire this summer, "It's definitely attractive when a man can dress well."
Reynolds, 35, was previously married to Scarlett Johansson. The couple divorced in 2010 after two years of marriage.
This is the first marriage for Lively, who previously dated her Gossip Girl costar Penn Badgley.

CCI EXCLUSIVE: ALEX ROSS' "GREEN LANTERN" MOVIE CONCEPT ART
From CBR.com
While the final costume and character designs ended up looking a little different from his proposals, acclaimed artist Alex Ross provided early concept art for Warner Bros.' big screen adaptation of DC Comics' Green Lantern mythos. Fans of the comics can see Ross' designs maintain much more of the look and feel of the original source material than the eventual movie did, from the traditional uniforms to Hal Jordan's square jaw to a faithful interpretation of the various members of the GL Corps.
CBR brings you this exclusive look at some of Ross' paintings, which are on display and up for sale this week during Comic-Con International in San Diego at the Alex Ross Booth (#2419).
