Best Of - DVD To Prepare You For The Upcoming Cartoon Network Show

From TVShowsOnDVD.com By David Lambert

A 5-episode 'Best Of' disc, celebrating the new show with GL-featured episodes of previous shows, will get its brightest day on November 1st.

Together for the first time is the best of the Green Lantern in a single disc. Each Green Lantern has been chosen by the Guardians of the Universe, and wields a power ring that can generate a variety of effects, sustained purely by the ring wearer's strength of will; the greater the user's willpower, the more effective the ring. The ring can be used for antigravity, space travel, flight, unleashing torrents of energy, translating alien dialects, and creation of green objects (constructs) of any shape. Across the years, the ring has been shown capable of accomplishing anything within the imagination of the ring bearer. This compilation contains 5 fan favorite action packed episodes that have been taken from other series.
As many of you already know, the Cartoon Network is preparing a new DC Universe show later this year: Green Lantern: The Animated Series. Bruce Timm (He-Man, She-Ra, G.I. Joe, Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs, Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, Batman Beyond, Justice League/JLU) is the Executive Producer, and the voice cast stars Josh Keaton (Ultimate Spider-Man, Transformers Prime) as "Hal Jordan"; James Arnold Taylor (Johnny Test, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) as "Guy Gardner"; Robert Englund (TheNightmare on Elm Street films, V / V: The Final Battle / V: The Series) as "Hector Hammond"; Richard Green (The Batman, Ant Bully) as "Sinestro"; Colleen O'Shaughnessey (The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Digimon) as "Arisia"; and Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile, Armageddon) reprising his live-action film role as the voice of "Kilowog"!

While we're probably waiting on the upcoming San Diego Comic Con for full details of the new program's launch, Warner Home Video has sent early information to retailers today which alerts them to a DVD release celebrating the new program. This is NOT episodes of the 2011 series, but rather it will be episodes of previous DC Universe shows that featured various Green Lanterns in them. They are gathered into a single-disc title called simply "The Best of Green Lantern", and it will come with these five episodes to warm you up for the new show: "In Brightest Day" (Superman: TAS); "In Blackest Night, Part 1" and "In Blackest Night, Part 2" (Justice League); "Ring Toss" (The Batman); and "The Eyes of Despero!" (Batman: The Brave and the Bold). Cost is $14.97, and the street date is currently slated for November 1st (any bets on whether this also turns out to be the home video release date of the recent film starring Ryan Reynolds? Just a random thought there!).
